Why Kirkwood, Missouri Is One of the Coolest Suburbs in America

Sharing this post from an unexpected source, Apartment Therapy. The first paragraph speaks to the legacy of Kirkwood’s history which supports our mission which states “Kirkwood Historical Society fosters an active appreciation for preserving the history of the Kirkwood area and its relevance to the present and future”.

I always knew Kirkwood was a cool place to live, having lived there from 1960 to 2000. And I’ve missed it sorely these past thirty years, living in Rolla.. I miss Kirkwood park, the Community Center, the YMCA, walking around Meramec Community College, walking or biking or driving downtown to any number of good restaurants and cute stores, and ending up at the train station to have a concrete at Jeremiah’s. I miss the sense of community, sorely lacking in my current situation. And the choices–oh Lord, the choices— of plays, festivals, events, churches, movies, coffee shops, lectures, and on and on. Oh how I miss my hometown.
