In 2021, we celebrated the 60th anniversary of the formation of The Kirkwood Historical Society. Founded in 1961 by Mrs. Harry D. Donovan, the original constitution cited that “the purpose of this society shall be to bring together those people interested in history, and especially in the history of Kirkwood and the surrounding territory”.
That original spirit inspired our current mission to foster an active appreciation for preserving the history of the Kirkwood area and its relevance to the present and future. We are guided by our vision to preserve and share the history of the Kirkwood area and be a source of community pride marked by vibrant membership and civic engagement.
For over six decades, we have relied upon volunteers, both Board members and others, who have contributed thousands of hours to help the history of the Kirkwood area remain relevant to the present.
